The Perinatal period (the time before and after childbirth) is one of intense emotion for most women.  Many women expect that it will be the happiest time in their lives. While this is true in many cases, some women feel a mix of emotions when they find out they are pregnant or after giving birth. Fear, anxiety, anger, uncertainty and vulnerability are very common emotions and can cause women to question their choices and role as a mother.

If you are feeling sad and depressed for more than two weeks after giving birth or find that you are anxious, having thoughts that scare you, are angry and don’t know why, talking to a professional can help to ease your fears and get you on the path to treatment that will help both you and your baby.
